In- Home Support

Brave Minds Mental Health facilitators respect your choice of support and are happy to provide face to face support within the comfort of your own home. Being able to talk to someone about your problems, means having a support worker with a special skill set. We understand the importance of communication, and our support workers have the ability to both communicate professionally or to simply chat and listen. A Brave Minds Facilitator is someone who:

  • Has excellent interpersonal communication
  • Will be there to listen to you and help you through difficult times
  • Provide company, friendship and support when you need it most

Assistance With
Daily Life

We will support your choice of goals and assist with re-skilling to assist you in moving towards having greater independence. Brave Minds Facilitators are able to help with personal and domestic activities to develop skills needed to maintain a clean home environment. This may include assisting our clients to carry out basic house work and yard work such as:

  • Assistance with meal preparation
  • Assistance with basic in-home cleaning chores
  • Assistance with paper work and bills

Providing Assistance to Access The Community

Brave Minds Social Services understands the burden that a severe mental illness puts on everyday life. Simple tasks can easily become overwhelming which means that people often lack basic necessities. Our staff provide safe companionship to assist you to get the necessities done, such as:

  • Grocery shopping
  • Medication collection
  • Retail shopping
  • Business matters

Assistance to Access Social and Recreational Activities

Its now well known that isolation leads to chronic inactivity. Inactivity exacerbates weight gain and both are contributing risk factors for diabetes and cardiovascular disease. We encourage clients to engage in any type of outdoor activity no matter how insignificant it may seem; such as:

  • Going for a walk
  • Engaging in the gym
  • Going to the movies
  • Going for a coffee
  • Participating in group activities
  • Engaging in social activities

While we always respect the choice of our clients, Brave Minds facilitators are all expert motivational mentors. At times, we all need some encouragement to get our goals completed. These supports enable a participant to engage in community, social or recreational activities to develop skills of the participant to live as autonomously as possible.
